Rothko

24 Jun

I love abstract expressionistic modern art like this. Michael took me to Acme yesterday to meet Leon Schenker, an expressionist artist whose peers at one time were painters from the New York School like Mark Rothko. I wish I had a pic of the pieces I wanted to buy from Leon. They are stunning but oh, so expensive. They would look so beautiful at Trinity. Very evocative and yet subtle at the same time. The colors are much less bold than the ones above. Perhaps Leon might consider lowering the price this weekend. I am rationalizing about them that as far as extravagances go, my tastes could be worse. And Leon’s a lot cheaper than Rothko. The piece above which is badly cropped sold for 22 million dollars.
